Amy Smart is a former American actor and model. Born and brought up in California USA she started her modeling professional career in Italy. Her Costly Affair, a 1996 TV film that she played her first part in, was her debut part. It took a long time to get her into Starship Troopers in a smaller part. It was a difficult transition for Amy because she had change from modeling to acting. Models aren't considered great actors and so tend to be given smaller roles that aren't very important. Amy didn't give up, and ultimately she was offered bigger parts in the movies Varsity Blues and The 70s. The 2005 romance comedy Just Friends, which also included Ryan Reynolds, saw her play some more notable parts. It was a huge box office success and Amy has finally achieved the fame she had been seeking for more than 10 years. Amy continued to make important films, including the Crank series starring Jason Statham and the series Shameless in which she portrayed a well loved recurring character.
