April Ross
April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball athletes to win medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian who will be joining her at Tokyo. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic gold medal. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' last chance to take home the Olympic gold. Still confident but she is not sure. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs very well, or even at all, they could win a gold. This is also a matter of chance. Ross born in 1982 and lived within Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began participating in sports at the Newport Harbor High School. She was able to participate in a myriad of sports at Newport Harbor High School. Along with playing indoor volleyball, she also was a basketball player and also ran track in her pre-college days. While she did well when playing indoors, it was clear that her abilities were higher than normal. Through her high school years, she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court as per her bio at the college. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the National Player in 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Even though Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing since the year 2017, Klineman had already been a major participant on the beaches prior to their team. In fact, she's had the chance to win numerous events, one of which was with an iconic volleyball player. From 2007 until 2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Together with Kessy Ross was a force on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. The pair eventually picked up an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team who took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, took each other to take home the gold. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she announced her retirement. Together, they won bronze medals in beach volleyball for the Rio Olympics of 2016. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC during her college days, years before becoming a professional. The Trojans had a great run for Ross at the university. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year when she was a teen freshman. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans reach the Final Four. Her personal life was tense after a devastating loss during her sophomore year, yet was successful in achieving the All-American title. In her last two seasons in the Trojans in the program, she led them to victories by winning the national title in consecutive years. She was a fantastic player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to watch her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mother died of cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. But she still keeps her parents close to her his heart. Margie is a source of inspiration throughout her life, as well as on the beaches.
